Gaston Oaks is blessed with an unusually fine choir. Openings are available in all sections. We do not audition singers , but welcome those who have a love for singing and will volunteer, especially those who read music. Our English Worship Choir rehearses each Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
Music plays an important role in our worship at Gaston Oaks. All four congregations worship separately in the music style of their own heritage. It is important that each congregation maintains the integrity of their own culture and heritage, even as they adjust to living in the American culture.
Several times each year the four congregations, Afrikan, English, Hispanic and Karen join together in a combined worship service. Each language group participates in the service by praying, reading scripture, or singing in their own language. It is a unique experience, particularly when we sing hymns common to all groups, to hear voices lifed in song in all four languages at the same time. The house is filled with song, and God is praised.
